Fascinated by the effects of light and shade, I love to intrepret the many nuances of colour this creates.
My inspiration comes from a million and one things - sometimes the smallest glint of light on the side of a vase, the first daffodil or a gorgeous country landscape. I use a fairly loose, impressionistic style, in a bid to capture the freshness and spontaneity of my composition.
I found watercolour is a wonderful medium for this, but am now also experimenting with watercolour and oils together to add texture and boldness to my painting. As a self-taught artist I am constantly experimenting to push myself and develop my style further.
I have been painting for 12 years and having generated a lot of interest privately through friends and colleagues, decided to widen my horizons and held my first exhibition in May 2003 at Gallery 54, Shepherd Market, Mayfair, London. Since then I have exhibited at Webbs Gallery, Clapham, London (May 2003), Market Cross Gallery, Sturminster Newton, Dorset (Feb 2004), Garden of Eden Gallery, Kensington Church Street, Kensington (May 2004), Candover Gallery, Arlesford, Hants (Sept 2004) and The Sportsman, Whitstable and the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre (Spring 2005).
In 2008, I was commissioned by Harrods to provide teddybear artwork for their Harrods Signature Range.
My paintings are also held in private collections both here and in the USA.
